Sweaty palms can cause a lot suffering in life, because the hands are particularly exposed. When people have sweating problems in other parts of the body, they can sometimes take steps to hide the problem, but the hands are always on display.
You never really noticed how widespread the practice of shaking hands is until you have to think of plausible reasons why you should avoid shaking someone’s hand. Sometimes it’s just impossible without being rude, but the worst thing is that moment of shock in the other person’s face when they realise how slimy and clammy your hand actually is. There’s no way that explaining the problem will make it any better.
So you tend to try to avoid people when you have excessively sweaty palms. But if you could stop your hands from sweating so much, I’m sure you’d agree that you could be a lot happier. In this post I’m going to tell you a few simple things you can try which may help to resolve the problem for you. I know that I found them quite useful when I still had a sweaty hand problem.
The first tip I want to give you might sound quite crazy when you read it, but believe me it does work. It is actually a folk remedy which has been used for generations. It involves soaking your hands in tea! It also works well for your feet. You can use normal brown tea, but the best result I got was with sage tea, which you should be able to get from any health food shop. To make the solution you should put 4 to 5 teabags in boiling water and allow it to steep for 30 minutes, to make a really strong solution. Then you should mix in some cold water in a basin so that it is not too hot.
Next, soak your hands or feet in the solution for 30 minutes or so. This is best done before going to bed, although it can be done if you get up early in the morning. You should find that this puts an end to your sweating for the rest of the day.
Not everyone responds so well to the tea remedy, so there is another one which I think will work for you. That is to use a solution of Epsom salts to soak your hands and feet in, just like the tea. You just add 2 to 3 tablespoons of salt into a small cup of hot water, stir it up until it is completely dissolved and then set your hands and feet in the solution. Allow them to soak for 30 minutes or so. This is best done at bedtime.
When I started using these remedies myself the sweating was so bad that I would actually alternate between these two at night and in the morning, but after a while I found that the tea remedy alone was enough.
This wasn’t a method that permanently solved the problem for me, but it was a nice solution for reducing the problem. In a next post I’ll tell you about a method that I used that completely cured my sweating hands and feet. In fact it helped me to stop excess sweating in other areas of my body as well, such as my sweaty armpits. Stay tuned to find out more.
